Enoch Whiston murdered Alfred Meredith attacked, shot in the face and robbed whilst Alfred Meredith was on his way back from the back to his place of work at a Dudley ironworks where he was a wages clerk. Alfred Meredith didnt die instantly and was taken to the hospital.

Enoch Whiston stole over £300. He was soon arrested and confessed to the robbery, however Alfred Meredith died from his injuries a week later and the charge was altered to murder.

Enoch Whiston was hanged at Worcester on 10 February 1879 by William Marwood.
